Suresh Chandra Mohanty has been elected as the new President
of the Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICAI) for the year 2013-2014. The
Institute of Cost Accountants of India announced that Suresh Chandra Mohanty
was elected as the new president of the body.
ICAI is also the member of the International Federation of
Accountants (IFAC), The Confederation of Asian and Pacific Accountants (CAPA)
and The South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA).
Mohanty, who was elected as President at a council meeting
at Kolkata.
Mohanty, will replace Rakesh Singh. A S Durga Prasad would
be the new vice-president of ICAI.
Mohanty is a Graduate in Economics and holding a degree in
Law. He is also a Fellow Member of the Institute of Cost Accountants of India
(ICAI) and Institute of Valuers (FIV) of India.
He also served as Chairman of the Eastern India Regional
Council and he has a huge experience in issues associated with standards
setting.
About ICAI
The Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICAI) is a
premier professional accountancy body established on 28 May 1959 to regulate
the profession of Cost & Management Accountancy in India. It is
the only licensing cum regulating body of the Cost Audit and Cost &
Management Accountancy profession in India. It recommends the Cost
Accounting Standards to be followed by companies in India to witch statutory
maintenance of cost records applicable.
ICAI is solely responsible for setting the auditing and
assurance standards for statutory Cost Audit to be followed in the Audit of
Cost statements in India.
