Ranveet Gill is the new CEO of Deutsche Bank India

Deutsche Bank has a new CEO for Indian operation.  Ranveet Gill is appointed as the new CEO and he will be replacing Gunit Chadha.  Gill is working as head of capital markets and treasury solutions now.  He is banking career since 26 years.


Petrol, Diesel Prices Increase

Petrol and diesel prices are increased in India again.  This is informed by Oil Marketing companies in India.  Petrol is now costlier by Rs. 2.35 and diesel will cost Rs.0.50 more.  Oil marketing companies informed that this is due to the depreciation of rupee. The new prices came into effect from the mid night of 31st August.


Federal Bank Limited Launches FedBook, electronic passbook

Federal Bank Limited, the Kerala based bank launched an electronic version of the passbook dubbed as FedBook.  FebBook can be downloaded easily.  The customers can view the transactions of their account at any time online.  The application is user friendly and for now will be available for Android smartphones.

India’s GDP Dropped to 4 Year Low

Gross Domestic Product growth of India dropped to four year low.  It is only 4.4 percent in the first quarter.  Reserve Bank of India and the central government should take necessary action to stop this, say the experts.  Poor performance of the mining sector is said to the reason for the drop in GDP. Other sectors such as power generation, hotels and transport also performed poorly in this quarter.

Reserve Bank of India permits encashment of Premature Taxable Bonds by over 60 years investors

Investors who are aged more than 60 years can now encash their premature taxable bonds.  The bonds that have crossed the cross in period of three years from the date of taking the bond can benefit from this decision of RBI.

Mercedes Car Prices Hiked in India

The prices of Mercedes cars in India will be increased by 2.5% to 4.5%, informed Mercedes Benz India.  The new prices will come into implementation from 1st September, 2013.  This is because of depreciation of rupee value, input cost increase and high import duty.

Science and Technology

Union government of India is running Science Express-Bio-diversity special’ train in various states. It will halt at Miraj station in Pune from 6th to 9th September, 2013.  People can visit the exhibition on train from 10 am to 5 pm.  It started its journey in April this year. By October it will cover 62 locations.  Next halt for the train is Nanded.

Maria Sharapova withdraws from US Open due to Injury

World third ranked tennis player Maria Sharapova pulls out of US Open Tennis Tourney.  She withdrew from the tournament due to should injury. Agnieszka Radwanska, the Poland player will play as third seed in the tournament.

BCCI committee to meet in Kolkatta.

BCCI committee meeting is going to be held on 1st September in Kolkatta.  Sources informed that N Srinivasan may again take up charge as the president of BCCI.  Though majority members are opposing this, Srinivasan is making his plans to again act as the president of BCCI.  This is the final meeting before AGM.

India’s Rs 5000 crore air for Bhutan

India announced Rs. 5,000 crore aid forBhutan for its socio-economic development.  A meeting was held between Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Bhutanese Prime Minister Tshering Todgay in New Delhi in which a decision was taken to this effect.  This will improve the bilateral relations between the two countries, it is said.

Guilty Minor in Nirbhaya Case gets three year jail Term

The minor boy who he guilty is found guilty in Nirbhaya rape case is given three year jail term by Juvenile Justice Board. The court also said that the period he spent in remand will also be included in the three year jail term.  As a result the accused will have to spend another two years and three months in jail.
